This list is not going to be easy. I’m not going to sugar coat it. I’m not going to tell you that there’s a miracle formula you can drink that can help you eat whatever you want. That just isn’t true. It’s simple, it’s supposed to be hard because it’s not supposed to be for everybody. With that said here are 10 foods, that in my opinion, you shouldn’t be eating (a lot of lol) when you’re trying to lose weight.
Fruit is an essential weight loss food because it’s a great alternative to any refined sugar sweet. Next time you’re having a sweet craving, grab an apple, and what the cravings disappear.
How much fruit do I eat? I try and consume one piece of fruit every day. If you find it hard to do that, just have my grandma’s famous smoothie for breakfast.
I’ve mentioned the importance of water in your diet in other entries, so I won’t really get into it today.
How much water should you drink? I try to drink at the minimum 16oz of water every 1-2 hours. Of course, this mostly depends on the color of my urine which I try to keep almost transparent.
Egg whites are a great source of lean protein and because of that are a perfect way to start your day. Have them by themselves or pair them with your favorite meats. Just get them in your system and watch the weight come right off.
Frequency: I have a total of 4 egg whites every morning. It’s actually one of my favorite meals, sometimes I’ll even have them for dinner, I call it night-breakfast. lol
4.Turkey and Chicken
Lean protein is always something you want in your diet. Protein is the food your muscles eat and keeping them well-fed will help, in most cases, speed up the weight loss process. Both turkey and chicken are a great source of lean protein, so try to have them with every meal.
Due to its low-calorie nature and delicious taste, “Froyo” is one of the healthiest ways to satisfy any sweet craving. I try to keep some “Great Value” frozen yogurt in my fridge at all times, and every time I have a craving, I get myself a cup. No shame in that.
Quick Recipe: My favorite thing to eat before a long ride is a toasted waffle with peanut butter accompanied by a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt. It’s fucking delicious.
I’m almost ashamed as to how many sandwiches I eat during the week to stay alive. Wheat bread is a must if you’re trying to lose weight, because it’s healthy, filling, and easy to cook with. So always, keep a nice stock of your favorite wheat bread.
Don’t like the taste? If you, like me, hate the taste of wheat bread, toast it every time you use it. It’ll improve the taste without becoming unhealthy.
My hero. Try not eating chocolate for 6 months and you’ll understand why peanut butter is one of my all-time favorite foods.
Interesting fact: I prefer plain over crunchy peanut butter, simply because it’s easier to spread.
Packed with fiber, low butter popcorn is the perfect snack to satisfy your salt-filled cravings. Next time you’re craving anything salty, pop one of these bad boys in the microwave and eat till your heart’s content.
How do I eat popcorn? I drench it in Lousiana Hot Sauce. I also enjoy drenching it in the juice that is left over from pickled jalapenos, try that and you’ll never eat popcorn the same again.
I love their taste and they help me feel full. Other than that, nothing is really “special” about corn tortillas.
One of my favorite things to do is to leave old corn tortillas on the fire until they shrivel up and become tostadas.
Granola bars are a great alternative to candy bars. They’re equally as sweet but pack way more nutrients your body needs to strive. I like to eat them during my bike rides, and as snacks when I’m in a hurry.
Favorite Bars: Quaker Chewie Bars (Peanut Butter)
Thank you for reading guys. Until next time, ride safely.
